#betterYOULandL | YOGA

Oh yoga..why do I have such a love/dislike with you? Is it because I’m not super flexible? Or that I my mind races when it should be still? Maybe it’s because I want to be great at your poses but I don’t put in the time and effort to practice? I actually think it’s all of the above. It’s not my favorite way to excersise, yet. However my instructor Chelsey is pretty damn determined to make it be. She’s one of my closest friends, pretty much family and over the past two years I watched her transform into a positive and peaceful place. I admire her a lot.

So why do I do yoga? To S T R E T C H myself. I love to lift, row and run and because of those things my body is wound pretty tight, limiting my ability to bend and move how I want to. So even though I’m not a die hard yogi, I fully believe in the benefits of adding it, even once a week to your workout routine.

Yoga-8599

Anything lunge stretch releases the hip flexors. This position stretches my quad, hip flexors and spine.

This yoga wheel is a lot of fun. Did you see my Snapchat: LandLinc on Tuesday? I attempted to to stand on it and squat.. This position on the wheel helps open up the back as well as the entire front body. It also helps to build up strength and alignment to work up to doing backbends.

Yoga-8592

This is a great stretch for triceps and shoulders. Also, keeping your forehead to the mat allows your nervous system to settle and calm you.

Yoga-8399

This helps to improve focus, balance and stretch inner thigh and hamstrings.

Yoga-8573

This position is good for people who sit a lot. Turning your body opens up your chest. One of my favorites!

Yoga-8543

This looks kinda silly, but guess what? It’s effective. Lying on these blocks opens up your shoulders and chest. It’s great for those of us who sit on a computer and drive a lot. It’s a great 5 mins stretch to do each morning to awaken the muscles and help you not hunch during the day.

Yoga-8618

Back, tricep and hip stretch.

Yoga-8413

Pigeon is a really deep stretch and one that my body isn’t open to, yet. Adding a strap is a good modification. The block allows me to find more of an extension through my spine. Great stretch for outer hip, quad and hip flexors.

There you have it. My way of yoga.
