Microneedling + #ootd

{ scroll down for outfit details & links }

Hey everyone! I had my first microneedling appointment yesterday in La Jolla with Dr. Zoe at Perfect Face. I had been following her for awhile on Instagram before I set up my appointment, to get a better idea of the type of work she did. I was impressed to learn she’s also a anesthesiologist and was in the Navy..uh, she’s really great! I spent my pregnancy watching Jenna get Vampire Facials in NYC and knew she was happy with her results, and I totally see why.

Dr. Zoe applied a medical grade numbing cream to my entire face and neck. We waited 30 mins until I was nice and numb. When you see Zoe in person, you will stare at her face. Not a damn pore or wrinkle to be found, trust me I looked. Just this beautiful healthy glow and smooth skin. She works out of her La Jolla office 2 days a week and books up SUPER quick, so if you’re in Southern CA or coming to visit this summer, call ahead! Let me answer some common questions about microneedling.

What is it? She uses a device called a Collagen P.I.N to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries to your face (you can also do neck, chest, hands, etc). By doing this it triggers the skins natural repair process to take over and produce new collagen and elastin. This will improve scarring, lines, sun damage, and will also tighten the skin. I did my face and neck and want to do my chest and hands next time.

Did it hurt? NOT. AT. ALL. I do think I have a high tolerance for pain, but I didn’t feel anything. Not exaggerating either. I even told Dr. Zoe I felt relaxed having it done. I laid Ozzy on my chest and she slept during the whole thing.

How many treatments do you need to see results? Everything I’ve read and seen, just one. Obviously you will see even greater benefits if you do more than one. I’d like to do 3 or 4 over the next 6 month’s to a year, mainly for sun damage and to brighten under my eyes and tighten that delicate skin around my eyes.

What’s the downtime? Right now it looks and feels like I have a sunburn. I can wear MINERAL makeup up after 24 hours. After 4 days you can resume normal makeup application.

How much does it cost? Price varies depending on the state/city you are in. Dr. Zoe charges $400 per treatment and it includes all your aftercare products.

  1. Sounds similar to a fraxel, but a lot less expensive and less painful. Do you know anything about how these compare? I had a fraxel done 6 years ago and got amazing results, but it was close to 1,000$, extremely painful, and downtime was a week to 10 days–my face puffed up like a marshmallow! Would love to try this one if it really is that much easier!!

  2. Lisa are we able to ask questions for you here..? Or will that be a separate post

    • You can ask. I answered the questions I received in DM’s yesterday in todays post.

      thanks,
