fresh start: moving
This week will be a big change for my family. We’ve packed up our home here in Mesa, AZ and are headed to Orange County, CA. It’s a decision I’ve gone back and forth on the past two years. Obviously there is so much to consider. First off, the kids and I leaving the comfort zone of our family and friends. I was raised in Mesa, all of my family is here but I’ve never felt totally content and that nagging feeling to try something new has only become stronger since my divorce. Another huge consideration is my ex-husband. I’m fortunate that I was once married to a man with a very giving heart. He is accepting of this change and supports us which is huge. It’s also a plus that he spends a good amount of time in Southern California for work and I will bring my kids home to Arizona monthly if not more.
My girls are excited! We have wonderful friends and extended family out there that will help make the transition easier. We’re moving into a neighborhood walking distance to school, Trader Joe’s, the movies, the gas station for our daily diet Coke & Sprite fix and a 10 minute drive to the beach.

Bottom line: I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. I totally am! But I’m equally as scared to stay in the stagnant life I feel I currently live in. I don’t think life will do a 180 and I’ll magically be happier by living there. Happiness is my choice. If anything we try it out, realize it’s not for us and come back to Arizona with more appreciation for what we had.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sad to have you and you’re cute family leave AZ. But excited for this new chapter. I know it’s going to be something great for you! And I might be a little jealous- sometimes (mostly in the summer) I really missing living in CA! Good thing my family is still there for visits! Good Luck!!
