I’ve been divorced for 3 years now. I was married for 10 years and have 3 daughters with my ex-husband. People ask me all the time “what happened”, “is it hard to be around him”, “don’t you just hate him for what he did”? Truth is, we are divorced for valid reasons, it’s taken a very long time to get to the point we are at and I forgive him.
We don’t share the same beliefs on religion but come together when needed for the sake of our children. We’ve allowed each other the freedom to have our own version of happiness. There is a level of respect we share that has made the transition much easier on our children. I am in no way a advocate for divorce, but feel fortunate my children’s dad is as easy to co-parent with as he is.
Even a non-conventional family like ours.

It is so nice to see how religion brings families together. When we believe the same things we can all be happy. How sad when we all just can’t believe the same things, it makes it so difficult on our kids when we have to open our minds and be humble about what we “know”. It is so much better to just believe in something because that is the way our dear Heavenly Father intended it. Otherwise why would he give us the free agency to choose what we want when he knows what is best for us. It is always best to just believe and not question anything because that way life is figured out already so why would we need to contemplate?? It’s especially nice to see little kids at such young ages before their brains are even half-way developed believing in what we have taught them since they were infants so when it is time to make a lifelong commitment to our sweet and loving Heavenly Father they will choose the right. It helps too when they are surrounded by adult men telling them what is right and not putting any kind of pressure on them because they are children. How blessed we are to be a part of something so sacred and powerful that has been passed down from generation to generation by old men who literally speak to God. We should be so grateful to these old men for bestowing upon us life rules and regulations so we can become what our loving and generous heavenly father wanted us to become.. Obeying children who question nothing because why would we question!? His ways are just. His ways are pure and righteous. May we all teach our kids that we know why they are here and we know what our gracious Heavenly Father wants for us, even if we don’t know it.. He does. May we bow our heads in reverence for His loving words of wisdom that He bestows upon us though the mouths of old men in suits who want nothing more than to watch our kids follow in their footsteps so they too can become happy. His eternal plan is one of happiness and love. May we gird up our loins and fight for what is true and faithful.

You were?! I’m so bummed I missed you. Miss you guys!
Thank you for your brave post! I have been co parenting
For 15 years! I was never married but had a son at 19 years old.
I have been married for seven now, and I have 3 children
With my husband. God Is Faithful. The sun Will shine
Again! I am living proof! There is an amazing book called The Smart
Step Family By Ron Deal, and it has helped me and my husband
Tremendously! Co parenting stretches us. We have to be flexible
And “let go” of our ideal family. Unfortunately, life doesnt
Quite pan out like we envisioned for us or our children.
Sounds like your off to a great start an doing wonderfully:-)
Thank you for your sweet words. I’ll have to check out that book. xxo
