real Mom, dietitian + mother of 3

Meet my beautiful and talented sister Kristen. I can write a novel about how amazing this lady is. No matter where we go, people are drawn to her and want to talk with her for hours. She has a smile that lights up the room and she has the kindest heart. I’m so proud of her and everything she has going on. I believe little sisters are sent to take care of the bigger sister. I love her more than anything and I know you will too. Check out her amazing life in Puerto Rico and how to enter her giveaway. TWO lucky people will get a 7 day meal plan after an evaluation and consult with her.

kristen family

……….

Hi guys! I’m Kristen. I am a dietitian (graduated from ASU!) and I’m on a mission to raise a healthy and happy family. I’ve had THREE  kids and know a thing or two about weight loss, healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle. We recently relocated and moved thousands of miles away from Arizona. My story began when my husband wanted to move his company to Puerto Rico this past year. We left with a 2 month old, a 17 month old, a 5 year old.  My last two are 15 months apart. It seemed like an exciting adventure at first but then when I truly thought about it, the “realistic” mother in me started asking these questions: How am I going to lose my baby weight and fast? I literally just had a baby. I mean, I am going to be living in a swimsuit on a tropical island after all!! What healthy foods are in Puerto Rico? Quality? How am I going to keep feeding my kids and family healthy food? Basically, how am I going to fit in to Puerto Rico? When it came to the baby weight I went back to the basics. I ate all whole foods with as little of processing as possible. I had to learn that not having a Trader Joes, a Target, or whole foods doesn’t mean I still couldn’t be healthy. I came up with a clean diet plan that was easy to follow and without too many restrictions. I believe in eating clean, working out hard and indulging on the things you love once in awhile. I also believe that kids eat too much processed foods and don’t get enough vitamins during the day. If we teach them while they are young they will have a healthier outlook on life, food and balance. I love these vitamins and powders that give adults and children the exact amounts of fruits & vegetables we should consume in a day. They will bridge the gap of what we eat during the day verses what we should eat. Send me an email if you would like more information on how I can help you & your family with your meal plans & goals. | healthyazmom@gmail.com |

my kids are crazy about these Food Face plates. Perfect way to get them excited about veggies

Do you believe in eating right when you wake up?

Yes, I believe you need a good healthy breakfast to start your day. If you think about it, you haven’t eaten in almost 8-10 hours. Your body needs something good, and I strongly believe that what you put in your month at breakfast sets you up for a good day or bad day of eating.

Top 3 beauty must-haves?

Since I have lived in Puerto Rico I feel like I never get ready anymore. So my go to beauty products have changed because of this.

1. Trish McEvoy tinted BB cream. This is all I wear over there.

2. Unite D-Frizz serum

3. MAC lip crayon: Innocent

Favorite Snack?

The all Natural organic peanut butter powder. I top this on everything. I love it. Along with a few handfuls of Boom Chicka Pop, sweat and salty

What has surprised you most about motherhood?

How freaking hard it is

What do you think is the key to staying away from all the fad diets?

The key for me was knowledge. Once I started learning the science of nutrition, and learning how the body really breaks down and absorbs food, I had a better understanding on why fad diets typically don’t work; at least long term. I was able to change the way I thought and perceived food and learned how to make food work for you. I lost my baby weight by eating healthy, eating in moderations and without doing any extreme dieting. I am able to see now the bigger picture of why our bodies need a well balanced diet with little restraint, and the realization that a healthy lifestyle is different from a diet.

Is eating after 6pm okay to do?

Sure. I never give clients or myself a cut off time for food. I wouldn’t recommend eating most of your caloric intake at 9 pm, but I do believe in listening to your body and if you need something after 6 I would say eat any real or whole food item.

Top 2 go-to pieces in your closet?

1. Tory Burch Black flip flops. I think I order these every summer. They are my favorite.

2. Lulu lemon Baller Hat

What’s your favorite swimsuits to wear in Puerto Rico?

Kristen 1

I am always on the hunt for swimsuits. I probably spend 80% of my time in them so I’m always looking for comfortable, easy, and stylish. I’m usually at the pool with my kids so this means I’m just running around chasing them the entire time. I tend to go for a good one piece that won’t move on me but one I still feel cute in. These are my favorites right now:
