Getting ready for a WEDDING

This summer we went to Finland and Paris for a wedding abroad. It was the most amazing experience! Our new sister-in-law is from Russia! Now we have an entire new crew of family in Russia! My brother-in-law lucked out big time, well I guess they both lucked out, he’s a major catch too. He married quite the gem. She’s full of life and is the kindest person you’ll ever meet. I’m so excited to have her in the family. Did you read this post from our TRIP TO PARIS? You can see more on packing and other dresses I wore. I broke down, “how to prepare for a wedding” in a couple steps.

THE DRESS–

Planning for a wedding is never easy. Even when you aren’t the bride, you still need to put some major beauty prep into the occasion! Finding the right dress and accessories is always the number one concern. I chose this baby blue maxi dress to wear in our wedding party. It runs small, I’m wearing the size 4 for reference. I loved the bottom of the dress so much! It’s beaded chiffon! It was a little heavier than I expected but it didn’t bother me. It is definitely a gorgeous dress and one I will keep forever. I had it altered because I’m so short. The length fits exactly the way it looks on the model wearing it. I believe I took off 3 inches from the bottom and wore my highest heels. Also a little tip to keep in mind. Never show up in white unless the bride asks you to. I’ve had friends ask me if they can wear white to a wedding and I feel so strongly about letting the bride have her moment. She should be the only one in white.

THE HAIR —

The other stressful part about weddings is your HAIR! Did you see this interchangeable curl stick at the Nordstrom sale? It’s perfect to create different size curls. I’m so happy I got it. I used the smaller wand so my hair would stayed curled all day. It really lasted until that night. I spray this product in it to help my curls last. It smells so good. Spray a little on your hair before curling it. Your curls will last so much longer. The number one rule before heading to a wedding –DON’T DO SOMETHING DRASTIC. You will feel uncomfortable and it will usually bring attention you don’t want. Practice curling your hair or make an appointment to have your hair done.

THE MAKEUP–

If you never attend to your eyebrows, use the wedding as an excuse to clean them up. Brows are such an important part to your make up. I use this brow pencil from the QUEEN OF BROWS. I use the blonde color. I use the pencil to create the perfect arch or fill in any areas that need to appear thicker. After I fill them in, I use this – GIMME BROW gel to keep them in place. Always use the brush to brush your eyebrows upward. This GIMME BROW gel will make your brows instantly look groomed and full! It’s the most amazing product.

You also don’t want to over do your make-up, especially if you aren’t the bride. I stick with this color palette. It’s a very buildable palette so you can go as natural or as dramatic as you would like.

Get a spray tan to have a little color. I always get the lightest color so it looks natural. I keep up the tan with these self tanning wipes. They are amazing! The loreal wipes from the drugstore work great too.

This NAVY dress for weddings is also quite a winner. I almost wore it to the wedding. The price point is pretty good and it looks just like a designer dupe. I linked below a round up of favorite dresses. Have a great Monday!
