Hi guys! Yesterday was DAY 1 back in the gym..and it was tough. Ozzy is 5 weeks now and I have been itching to get back to a regular schedule at the gym. I stopped going right at 12 weeks pregnant when I had a scare and my doctor put me on bed rest. That scare turned into other complications and I was told moderate bed rest and zero gym time. So..it’s been awhile!
I was stoked to go! Put on my favorite CROPS, BRA, and this TEE. Grabbed my SHOES and I was out the door! Now in my mind I know I’m not going to be doing burpees or jumping rope, yet, but I honestly thought I would somewhat get back into the swing of things after a few mins. Wrong. So wrong.
Here’s how it went: elliptical ( I don’t normally like the elliptical, but it’s the easiest on your body) for 10 mins equalling 1.5 miles. Insert lots of heavy breathing. Next, leg press. 100lbs 20 reps x 3 sets. Hamstring curl 20 reps x 2 sets with 50lbs. Walking lunges in the empty aerobic room. Why? Because I have zero core strength and wobbled all over the place losing my balance with each lunge. 60 total. Wide stance squats, 50 with 50 pulse squats. Upright row holding a 20lb bar 10 reps x 2 sets. Bicep curls 20lb bar 10 x 2 sets. Ended with a plank. Like 30 seconds of shaking plank. I lasted 25 mins in the gym. It was a good reminder that I have to put in a lot of hard work to get my body back in shape. My 20’s are long gone. Weight doesn’t just fall off magically. Tomorrow I will go back and again the day after that. Slowly but surely I will reach my goals. In the meantime I will stare at sweet Ozzy and remind myself the extra work is worth it.
