2-7-2018

My Skincare Routine as of the last two months

Face Wash – Loving this EXFOLIANT CLEANSER , instant glow

LIP MASK – So good in the winter!

Face Peels once a week with these pads(I usually do this Sunday night)

GLO PRO MICRO NEEDLING TOOL – every other night

ONCE A WEEK – FACIAL HAIR REMOVER TOOL – keeps skin so smooth and hair free $19!

COLLAGEN GEL EYE PADS – My #1 selling item on this blog. You guys always rave about these and come back for more! I put these on all the time. Instantly make you look alive, awake, glowy! Sometimes I put them on when I wake up. Other days I need them around 3pm. I always put them on before I go out at night on a date or see friends.

MORNING & NIGHT – eye balm ,( the best and not near as expensive as what I was using from my doctor. It’s half the price and amazing!) and in the mornings I put this on ANTI-AGING CONCEALER/ for under eyes and anywhere.(can cover dark spots, bags under eyes, veins, pigment, break outs, scars)  If I was stranded on a island this is the one product I’d take. I’m lost without it. I actually feel naked when I’m not wearing it.

NIGHT – Triple Lipid Restore (I’ve seen the biggest change in my skin with this every night) Read about it!

RETIN-A (every other night)

Running out the door in the MORNING I use TWO things — DAILY SUNSCREEN , BYE BYE UNDER EYE – ANTI-AGING CONCEALER ( under eyes and any area I need to cover up, blemishes, pigment, etc) by far my fav make-up product on the market

Get the scoop about Injections

I bet if you are older than 21 you have asked yourself when your first Botox treatment will happen. With all the skin care hype and access to medical spas, injections are so accessible to everyone. Fillers are another hot topic I hear a lot of women asking about. You can now fill under-eye hallows, deep facial grooves, contour cheekbones, etc! There are so many ways to feel confident and age gracefully if done correctly. If you absolutely hate needles or want to stay clear away from injectables try anti-aging treatments like: THE VAMPIRE FACIAL | SKINCARE PRODUCTS EVERY WOMEN SHOULD KNOW | TREATING SKIN CONDITIONS

The last time I was visiting with Dr.Russak we talked a lot about the “correct age” for Botox.

She suggests getting started in your early 20’s! The results you will see when you are in your 50’s will be incredible. She doesn’t believe in having a frozen (non-emotion showing) face; she likes to be able to train the muscle that causes the wrinkles to relax just enough to prevent deep lines so we can all age gracefully. Everyone uses their facial muscles differently, and the places Botox (Dysport) should be used varies from person to person. A great (conservative) dermatologist can get you on the right path at a young age.

I remember on my 30th birthday marching into my doctor’s office and asking for my first botox treatment. If I knew Dr. Russak in my 20’s, I would have definitely started earlier. Now I get maintenance botox every 6 months on my forehead and crow’s feet. It really does take years off your face if you have it done right. I also try and maintain the best skin I can by following my skin care routine every single day.

Now some lip injection & under eye filler talk; this is completely a personal preference. If you go to the right doctor your lips can have a beautiful full look. Less is definitely more. Try a 1/4 of a syringe and see how you like it. You can always go back for more. Remember lips swell after the injections for up to 3 days. They can possibly bruise as well, so don’t do any injections (of any kind) before a big event. In my opinion, younger ladies can get away with very full lips; the older you are starting at mid 40’s you just want to plump them enough to look natural and not “overdone.” All of us can’t be Kylie Jenner (wink wink). Some of my friends have had filler put in lines around their lips with beautiful results. If you are not sure and want to use a product for your lips that can dissolve easily if you aren’t happy with the result, use restylane.

Under the eye filler – I really want to try this! I feel like mine are starting to look a little hollow. Ugh! Make sure and do this 2 weeks before a big event. You will most likely bruise. I’ve seen amazing results with this. The hollow space goes away and filler will smooth any wrinkles settling in under your eyes. It’s a great treatment if you have it done correctly.

NUMB! Please make sure and ask to be numbed up! You don’t need to have pain with this.

BRUISING – Also make sure and take Arnica tablets 2-3 days before appointments and keep taking if you bruise at all. The arnica will help keep the bruising at a minimum. I found mine at whole foods or health food store. Even order ARNICA TABLETS on Amazon.

The key should be “less is more”… you can always go back and get additional filler or Botox. Start small and see how you like the results. Also, a word of caution: research who you go to and don’t fall for Groupon deals with doctors you’ve never heard of. You don’t want to end up with uneven eyebrows or a droopy eyelid! Both have happened to friends of mine and I’ve seen it!

“We are starting to use neurotoxin injectables (Botox,Dysport & Xeomin) very differently now then at the age of our mothers. We use it much sooner to prevent progression from dynamic wrinkles to static wrinkles but we use it in much smaller quantities to give patients a much softer, relaxed rather then frozen look. We don’t want to eliminate movement in the face; we just don’t want the permanent lines to settle in.” Julie Russak, MD

  1. Hi Jenna I got my first injections when I was 25. I think the earlier the better! I didn’t really feel anything out of the ordinary the first time but as I age, I’m glad I did it earlier. You reap the benefits as time goes by. Great blog and nice skincare routine!

  2. This is the best post! So informative! Love all your tips, do you plan on doing an updated version of this post with new products that you’ve used lately?

  3. Would you happen to have any trustworthy doc recs in northern NJ? I am close to NYC but with little ones the logistics of a city trip are a bit tricky at the moment. Also, I have friends that see an “Aesthetic Physician Assistant” with her own “spa”. Do you think that is safe? I really need to start but am SO scared!
    Thank you, awesome post!!

  4. I use SkinCeuticals too so I’m curious why you use two different cleansers for morning and night?

    • I use the gel cleanser at night to deep clean my skin after wearing make up all day. The gentle cleanser in the morning is just what I need to remove any oils from the night and also keep my skin hydrated. If I use the gel cleanser (simply clean) am and pm I get too dry. If I use the gentle cleanser twice a day I break out. This is the perfect combination. Hope that helps. XX jenna

      • Ha! So that’s what I was doing! When I first started knitting lace, I con&#uld8217;t figure out why the holes were so tiny. Turns out I was doing YF. I kept getting them mixed up.

  5. Hi Jenna, I know you’ve recommended the SkinCeuticals eye cream before (in a previous post), which do you prefer- The eye cream or the eye balm that’s in this post? I’m looking for a new eye cream for anti-aging and want to get one of these two. Thank you!

    • I switch between the two of them. I’ve been really dry this winter so I’m using the eye balm. It’s extra thick! Either are an amazing choice!

  6. I am so happy you did this post! have been wanting to try SkinCeuticals for some time now. I have slight rosacea on my cheeks and sensitive dry skin. Do you have any suggestions of which products to start with?

    • Hi Ingrid! It totally depends what your concerns are and what you would like to address first. If you are looking to hydrate use emollience (moisturizer) with the gentle cleanser ( so yummy, smells like oranges) . Also the phyto corrective gel is one of my favs. So great for sensitive skin. I use this for a couple weeks after I get a peel or use an aggressive retin-A. It’s super calming and moisturizing. Leaves the fresh glow look. I love it. xx – jenna

      • I enjoyed reading about your day! I’m amazed that it sounds so much like our house! I thought everyone else was organized and I had to hide. Thanks so much! Cheryl (M1[of1o)m]

  7. Jenna, do you use the sunscreen in the morning as your moisturizer? Or do you layer? Love skinceuticals!

    • In the winter I layer. I do a little of the triple lipid restore first and then the sunscreen. I’m soooo dry! xx Jenna

    • Hi Jenny! I actually have a group of girls going to Josh Olson in Gilbert.(advanced plastic surgery) He is a plastic surgeon and really great. Mention my name and you will get a discount. XX Jenna

    • Check out @theaeathetician on IG. She’s in Gilbert or Patti Flynt in in Mesa and Scottsdale

  8. Do you or Lisa have any trust worthy doc recommendations in the San Diego area for minimal Botox treatment in the forehead area?

    • Hi Joce, I only get Botox and in my forehead, but have yet to find someone in San Diego. I like Nina at Finesse in Newport Beach, even though it’s a drive.

    • Hi Daile!
It’s MAC cremesheen pearl glass on top of the matte liquid lipcoulor – slipper orrchid. New favorite! XX jenna
