Adding Collagen to your LIFE!

Adding Collagen to your LIFE!
I’m curious about how many of you supplement with collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein in the connective tissues of animal bodies. Simply put, this string of amino acids has tons of benefits to the human body. I’ve been adding it to my diet for a while now, and  have noticed improvements! My nails are stronger, my hair is growing, and my skin seems better. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it’s doing though since I’ve also been gluten-free for a couple months now and certainly my body is benefitting from not having an allergen present! I’m trying to do everything I can now so I’ll reap the rewards in my 40’s. Plus good healthy habits are always a good idea to get started on.
Here’s a list of other reported benefits from taking collagen:
-improved bone strength
-increased joint flexibility
-smoother skin
-reduce cellulite and prevent stretch marks
-some report weight loss
-detox the liver
-repair leaky gut
-supports healthy teeth and gums
-helps balance hormones
-alleviates anxiety
-promotes restful sleep
-softens arteries
Once I read all these possible benefits I was like SIGN ME UP! I’ve tried a few different brands and found my favorite so far is VITAL COLLAGEN. My juice bar uses it as well. I find it easiest to mix into my daily smoothie but they also have “creamers” now that you can mix into coffee, tea or any hot drinks.
Also, I just read that one of Jennifer Anniston’s beauty secrets is collagen! She says it changes you from the inside out. It’s one of her obsessions and she has to have at least one scoop of this collagen  a day.

Here’s my current go-to smoothie recipe featuring this CHOCOLATE PROTEIN POWDER – it’s an  amazing plant-based organic protein powder. You can prime it to your house. wink, wink.

SMOOTHIE RECIPE

  • 1 cup of almond/coconut milk (or reg. milk/liquid of your choice)
  • 1 whole scoop of chocolate or mocha protein powder (1/8 cup)
  • 1/2 banana (preferably frozen)
  • 1 handful spinach
  • Ice to desired thickness
  • When I’m in a peanut butter mood I add 1 scoop of PB2 powder. Tastes just like a scoop of peanut butter. YUM!

Enjoy!

xx

  1. I would love to get in the habit of juicing or a protein smoothie (with collagen). I hate the clean-up though. How do you make it a quick painless chore to keep doing it daily?

  2. I’ve been using Vital Proteins collagen peptides for 2+ years. I put it in my coffee in the morning and in my protein, shake for after my work out. It makes a huge difference in my skin and I really noticed it in my eye lashes. When I first started taking it I didn’t notice a difference, it was when I stopped taking it that I noticed. My joints felt stiff, my skin felt dull and I didn’t have that extra length in my lashes. Its definitely become a necessity in my life and I highly recommend it.

  3. Hi! I take collagen pills, is there a benefit to doing the powder instead? Thanks!
