wildflowers + 3 things on my mind…

When I first saw this maxi it reminded me of a field of wildflowers. The colors and bell sleeve give off a 70’s vibe and so do my wooden heels and sunglasses. The fabric is so lightweight, you can totally wear it though the summer months. I wear mine with this slip underneath. It’s the best! lisa allen of lunchpails and lipstick wearing a floral maxi dress from wildfox with wooden platforms by prada and Raen sunglasses in Encinitas CA

3 things on my mind…

1.Avery left for girls camp this morning. I was really sad but excited for her to go. I was always so nervous to leave my family when I was her age. My kids are not. They are more brave than I ever was. Last week my uber driver and I had long talk about raising kids. He has one daughter, now in her 20’s that he rarely sees or speaks to. I could tell their relationship was hard for him to accept. He said if he could go back and do it all over again, he would have worked less and spent more time with her. Keep in mind he’s telling me this as he’s driving me home from a work day in LA while my kids are home in San Diego…

This is a topic I’ve been thinking a lot about the past few months. I’m fortunate that Jeff also works from home, so the kids are always with one of us and not a sitter. But for me, as a mom, the guilt set in. I’m trying to create balance. But is there such a thing when your kids are still young?

2.While in LA, the makeup artist working the shoot showed me this YouTube video. Have you seen it? I love how happy and excited she gets. I also love that the store she mentions ended up seeing it and gifted her entire family products. I think she’s adorable.

3.I DREAD washing and styling my hair. I will postpone it as long as possible. When I do wash, this is my current method: I always brush my hair with this brush, before I wash. Next up I use this shampoo and this conditioner. After my shower I spray in this leave-in and brush again with this brush. I let my hair air dry for about 15-20 mins and then apply this thickening mousse at the scalp and this shine serum to my ends. I grab these clips and section my hair off before blowing it dry with this hair dryer (it’s AMAZING). Once it’s all dry and smooth I will either call it good or add some waves with this curl wand. To finish it off, I always spray my roots with this dry texturing spray and this shine spray.
