Old San Juan

Old San Juan

If you travel to Puerto Rico you have to spend a day in Old San Juan. It’s my favorite spot in PR. I love people watching, the food and walking for miles while getting lost. This was our second time in San Juan and we always want to stay longer. Next time we visit Puerto Rico we will probably stay a couple nights in San Juan and then the rest of the week at the beach. There is so much history and incredible things to see here.

EAT

Pirilo pizza – best pizza crust and garlic knots I’ve ever had. And this is saying alot because I lived in Chicago. The dough is unbelievable. The kids loved this restaurant. Fun tile staircase up to the 2nd floor of the restaurant. Perfect family experience. Marmalade Restaurant is quite the experience. Fine dining for date night. It was a 3 hour experience. Definitely a must and a splurge. Senor Paleta for cool treats and popsicles dipped in toppings of your choice. ummmmm.

WALK

You will get lost walking the cobblestone streets of San Juan. Peeking around corners and taking in all of the colorful houses is just incredible. You get to see into cathedrals, apartments and shops. We watched a local couple get married when we walked into an old church. It gave me goosebumps. I also suggest souvenir shopping. We found so many fun treasures while talking to the locals. Remember when you visit a city like this you will be walking a lot! I suggest a cross body purse to wear while traveling here or actually for any of your summer travels. It’s so nice to have your hands free. I love my Rebecca Minkoff crossover bag. The white is my favorite!

  1. That dress looks amazing on you! I have to have it. I’m 5’2″ about 110lbs- did you go with xs or small? I’m thinking xs but wanted to check with you first. Love love your blog. You ladies rock!

  2. Love your blog and this trip looks amazing! My family is going to PR in June and we have a place to stay in San Juan, but aren’t sure which beach resort would be the best to stay in – any recommendations? Appreciate it!

    • We stayed at the Ritz in Dorado. It was incredible. Water park, golf course, amazing pools. The fitness center and classes are so fun. It’s amazing. We also stayed at El Conquistador for 2 nights on the other side of the island. It’s also amazing (less pricey) has a huge waterpark and private island you ferry over to. Kids went horseback riding and we did jet skis over there. We loved El Conquistador.
