NURSERY DESIGN

Hi everyone! I’m excited to finally share Ozzy’s nursery with you. Working on our home renovation + all the doors, beds, stairs, gates, etc Jeff has been building for clients, it feels REAL nice to have made time to get this nursery complete.  There were a few challenges with this space, mainly the size and creating a shared space with Goldie. Let’s talk size first. Our home was built early 80’s so these bedrooms are small with 8ft ceilings. We knew Jeff would have to get creative designing this space and I think he did such a great job creating Goldie’s loft bed. Made from walnut, maple and ash, this bed is child’s dream. Jeff wanted it to feel like a fort for Goldie since she’s always wanting to build one outside, he built one in her room just for her. I love that it’s high enough off the ground for me to walk under to change Ozzy (when I have the changing pad on top).  As Ozzy and Goldie grow and I no longer need to stand comfortably under the bed, Jeff will lower it to accommodate Goldie growing as well.Jeff and Lisa Allen kids nursery with Pottery Barn, Project Nursery, Anthropologie, Target, Dash and Albert, Beddy's, Oilo.

The bed is 100% my favorite part of the room! Goldie’s too. Goldie went from requesting a slide (which she wanted to shoot out her window and into the pool;)) to a rope (we practiced, it took way too long to climb and I could totally see her falling trying to get down) to a comprise of this rope and wood ladder we all love! You can email me: lisa@lunchpailsandlipstick.com with any questions or interest in Jeff’s work.

A must when you have a child’s loft/bunk bed..BEDDY’S! For real. Just take a look at this design. Goldie can make her bed with one quick zip and I never have to climb up there to help. It’s a genius idea!Jeff and Lisa Allen kids nursery with Pottery Barn, Project Nursery, Anthropologie, Target, Dash and Albert, Beddy's, Oilo.

The Pottery Barn DRESSER is another favorite. With six drawers, each girl gets three. I keep DIAPERS, WIPES and BOWS in the top of Ozzy’s with clothes in the second and BLANKETS/SWADDLES in the third. Also these prints from Jenny’s Shop remind me of growing up in Arizona. The diving ladies print is my favorite. It was one of those mental markers as a kid. I knew once I saw it we were almost to Matta’s or Mervyn’s (haha) which both bring back a lot of childhood memories. Ps..how cute is this CACTUS lamp?!

The Pottery Barn CRIB is clean and simple, just how I like it with this award winning MATTRESS and cute CRIB SHEET with a pillow HEREJeff and Lisa Allen kids nursery with Pottery Barn, Project Nursery, Anthropologie, Target, Dash and Albert, Beddy's, Oilo.

I picked up this CHAIR last minute and although we love it, I ended up moving it into another room and replaced it with this CHAIR. Looks great with the POUF too!

How cool is the WALLPAPER Goldie chose? Project Nursery had so many good options to choose from, but Goldie loved that it looks like waves since being in the water/surfing is something she and Jeff like to do together. This wallpaper helped inspire the rest of the nursery design.

Rugs are hard for me to choose. I have the hardest time making up my mind. I decided on this grey and white from Annie Selke’s Dash and Albert. They have the best rugs!

Jeff also created the light. Because the loft bed is so high up, all the light fixtures we found were too overpowering for this space. Keeping with a coastal theme, this walnut and brass fixture is lightweight with a flush mount.Jeff and Lisa Allen kids nursery with Pottery Barn, Project Nursery, Anthropologie, Target, Dash and Albert, Beddy's, Oilo.

We had a lot of fun with this project! We still have a few things we’d like to add, but we’re happy with how it turned out. Goldie loves it and Ozzy will too.

  1. Love love love this room. I’ve putchased the wave mural and a set of bunk beds. I do like the dash Beddy bed too.
This room is so happy and chill

  2. The loft bed is awesome! How did your husband make the bottom of the bed sturdy enough to hold a little one and secure to the wall?

    • Thank you! He’s such a talent. It’s anchored to the wall and has reenforced slats across the bottom to make it sturdy enough for anyone to lay on.
      hope that helps. xxo lisa

  3. Is the light fixture also a ceiling fan? I think it is a stunner! Did you purchase it or build it? If a purchase would you mind telling where it came from?

    • It’s a light fixture my husband designed and built. He wanted it to resemble a windmill. xxo

  4. Beautiful nursery & I can’t believe I just read how the diving ladies print reminded you of Matta’s & Mervyn’s! YES! I’m a Mesa girl & I LOVED it!!!

  5. Love this. Oh my gosh. Beddy’s! How awesome is that?! My girls need these! I think I was sweating after trying to make the top bunk the other day. Ha! I love the black and white too. Their room looks adorable.

  6. So adorable! I’m looking for a crib mattress for my son any other ones beside the one you bought you were deciding from? Was hoping not to spend that much.

    Thanks
