6 things no one tells you about your skin as you age

I am really excited to share with you an article I wrote for She Knows ! You can check it out here to read more.

I like to live my life without regrets but I definitely have a few things I regret doing in my 20’s! In particularly my early 20’s. I saw my skin as the tight, ageless and flawless skin it was. I never thought that someday I would be trying every product on the market to help my skin stay young. I wish I could take back all those days exposing my face to the sun. If you are reading this and you are in your 20’s take my advice, it really does matter!

1.Stay out of the sun, period. There are so many alternative ways to get a nice golden glow. Get a spray tan weekly if it helps you from baking in the sun for hours. When you are at the pool or beach always wear a hat that has SPF protection in it. Yes! You can get sun hats that have extra SPF protection fibers in them. I love this one. Baseball caps don’t always block the sun and the sides of your face usually suffer. Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen always so you are protected from the harmful UV rays from the sun.

2.Being in your 20’s is not too young to start a great anti-aging skincare routine. In fact this is the perfect time to start good habits and find products you like. Adding a serum to your routine before you moisturize has huge benefits! Serums actually have the highest concentration of active ingredients and are designed to deliver the product deeper into the skin for anti-aging benefits.

3.Anti-aging products don’t have to be expensive. I always thought the more expensive the product the better it would be. This is so far from the truth! You can find affordable luxury products that will change your skin if you know where to look. I recommend No7 Protect & Perfect Serum to everyone.Grab it the next time you are in Target. Don’t let your budget keep you from taking care of your skin.

4.Skipping sunscreen is the biggest mistake you’ve ever made! Sunscreen doesn’t have to be thick, white and hard to put on. In my 20’s I complained about how thick sunscreen was. I didn’t love how it left a white hue on my face. I wish I knew that sunscreen can be light and tinted. It can go on smoothly and actually end up as your favorite beauty product!

5.In retinol we trust! Retinol is safe to start using in your 20’s. You don’t need it every night but a couple times a week will help with anti-aging. It’s easy to use and does magical things for skin. It brightens, reduces discoloration and even helps acne. It’s my secret weapon I use now.

6.Eye cream is not just for old women. Eye cream is really worth buying. Especially with so many affordable creams you can get your hands on. Find a cream that will restore moisture and help your crow’s feet. Wearing sunglasses is also a great way to keep the sun from your eyes.

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum is the UK’s best-selling serum. This serum is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles in just four weeks, and the results continue to get better over time. You can get this affordable luxury at Target for $30!

How to USE No7 serum with your moisturizer:

A moisturizers’ main job is to hydrate and protect the skin, hence they act on the surface of the skin to act as a barrier. Serums are applied under a moisturizer and although they can provide some hydration benefits, the primary function of our serums is anti-aging, and therefore they should not replace a moisturizer. Used together, they deliver even better anti-aging results. Overtime collagen and elastin are broken down by enzymes in the skin, causing skin to lose plumpness. Fine lines and wrinkles then start to appear. Serums contain the highest concentration of active ingredients and designed to deliver the product deeper into the skin for anti-aging benefits.
