Straighten Up

I have naturally curly/frizzy hair. Always have, always will. I can thank my parents for my amazing skills at straightening hair. My friends line up to get a smooth and silky straighten by yours truly. 🙂 I really have learned to appreciate and take care of my wild mane. It definitely has body! I can go an entire week without washing it and it won’t look oily in the least. I’m dead serious. Not a drop of oil. I decided to start these hair vitamins and I can see a huge difference. It’s coming in softer and more hydrated. My nails are stronger too. I definitely recommend them. Anyways, I have mastered the art of straightening. It’s a puzzle that needs every piece to fit together perfectly. These are my steps and the products I use.

1.  The number 1 rule is you have to have a great hair straightener, one that won’t damage your hair. This one was voted best by ALLURE and it has been my absolute favorite. Trust me, I’ve tried a billion.

2. I use this ‘no frizz’ set by Living Proof when I wash my hair. Works like a charm. Seriously. The products you use really matter.

3. Using a hair oil is key. If you are blonde use Moroccan light so it doesn’t tint your hair color. If you don’t have blonde or light colored hair you can use the original Moroccan oil. I put a dime size amount in my hand and apply it to the ends and middle of my hair while my hair is wet or dry. I don’t do the top. You don’t want a greasy looking scalp.

4. Hair brushes are key while drying your hair with this blow dryer. Use this round brush to really work the kinks & curls out. This smoothes them out quite a bit.

5. My favorite hairspray is BlowPro and you can get it during the anniversary sale. I use it when I curl my hair with this curl stick.

6. Have you heard of ‘Perfect Hair Day‘? Everyone should own this product no matter what type of hair you have. It’s amazing and will leave your hair smooth and shiny. Prevents damage while using heating tools during the straightening/curling process. It’s amazing. When I use this I use it only when hair is damp. Use a quarter size amount and work it into the roots and ends of hair. It smoothes, volumizes, conditions, strengthens and polishes your hair all while helping to reduce breakage and keeping your style in place all day long.

  1. Thanks for this post! I have very curly hair and live in hot and humid south Fl. Not sure how curly your hair is but do you get Keratin treatments? I have tried all types of treatments trying to get my hair straight. Any other tips?

  2. This post couldn’t have been timed any better. My 14 yr. old daughter hates her frizzy, curly hair and I was helping her straighten it yesterday- it took forever! One question, it sounds like the Moroccanoil is key to help straighten the hair. Do you use it before or after the Perfect Hair Day. If I could only purchase one of the two, besides the Living Proof shamp/cond, which would you choose? Thanks!!!

    • Steffanie get the Moroccan oil over the perfect hair day if you only want one. The oil helps tame the frizz so much. Apply it to damp hair before blow drying it. Then use a little after the hair is dry to add to course areas. Mine is the middle part of my hair. Hope this helps! good luck! Also get a dry shampoo so when you straighten her hair it can last all week. Apply dry shampoo to roots on day 3, 4 and 5. Keeps the hair fresh and smelling good 🙂

  3. I have the same. i love the morrocan oil cream as well! I dont’ wash mine for 7 days either. and not oily. I have a brazillian blowout and LOVE IT. CUTS
